The Overtime Theater proudly presents Tune In, an insightful new play written by television actor and playwright, Carlos Lacámara. He is most known for his TV sitcoms from the 80s including Nurses and Family Ties. A younger generation will remember him as the father on the Nickelodeon sitcom The Brothers Garcia which was set in San Antonio.
His new play centers around Samantha Albert, a female psychology professor in the 1960s. She battles the patriarchy of a male-dominated university, and the traumatic death of her mother, Lily, to conduct experiments on a new wonder drug– LSD. She turns to the aging head of her department, Professor Melnitz, for support when her place alongside competing professors becomes heated. Her experiments will change her, and the other professors, in ways she didn’t expect.
Performances run March 24 – April 15, 2023, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, with one Sunday matinee on April 2 at 3 pm. And now we happily bring back Pay-What-You-Will Night on Thursday, April 6 at 8 pm. The Overtime Theater is located at 5409 Bandera Road, Suite 205 on San Antonio’s northwest side. General admission tickets are $18, or $12 for SATCO members, military and students with a valid ID.
